NEWPORT COTTAGE
This late 1800’s
waterfront property needed a facelift. The roof received a full strip
with a ½” plywood decking layover. Along with the new roof, we stripped
and resided the house with red cedar shingles. The customer chose to use
a vapor barrier and cedar breather underlayment. The cedar breather
allows the natural cedar to breathe and equalize, extending the life
span of the shingles and allowing the vapor barrier to better do its
job.
EDGEWOOD BASEMENT
The customer wanted a
finished basement as a play space for their active children. We worked
with the moisture remeadiation contractor to design a moisture
management system PRIOR to any remodeling. New windows, finished walls,
floor and drop ceiling were installed. With attention to moisture
management system access ports and the customer’s growing needs, we
created a beautiful and much appreciated space.

NEWPORT COLONIAL
COTTAGE
Newport’s lower fifth
ward is lined with homes built in the mid to late 1800’s. This house
(one of 5 exact replicas on the same street) needed a major overhaul.
Although built with skill and craftsmanship, 100 years of neglect was
getting the better of the home and it’s owners. The Home received a new
roof (decking and shingles) and a new chimney. The leaking roof had
destroyed all soffets and crowns. All soffets, crowns, fascia, frieze
boards and water boards were replaced. Even the wooden gutters were
rotten and replaced. The porch had no footings and was sinking in the
dirt while pulling away from the house. Consequently, the porch had to
be rebuilt starting with new concrete footings. Most of the siding was
replaced. All windows were stripped, treated and restored.

NEWPORT OCEAN DRIVE
This 60’s era Cape
has a unique location, nearly surrounded by Atlantic Ocean. All the
Trim, Fascia, and Soffits had rotted. The customer also needed 10 new
windows that met the rigid requirements for coastal insurance coverage.
We were able to install Andersen
coastal windows with Stormwatch protection to meet the
insurance provider’s recommendations. We also utilized factory dipped
White cedar Shakes. To further provide a Low maintenance exterior, All
the trim, Fascia, Moldings, and Soffits were constructed using AZEK.
This customer will never have to paint our work.
WAKEFIELD CAPE
T-111 Siding. If
you’ve heard of it, you haven’t heard anything good. Plywood, as it has
turned out, is not a good material for exterior or exposed applications.
The gable ends had been sided with T-111 plywood, and true to form, the
siding had expired. We replaced the T-111 with James Hardie Concrete
fiber siding. We were able to replicate (exactly) the look and feel of
the T-111 siding. Same 60’s look and style with durability and Low
maintenance.
